As many as 1 in 3 people in Australia are affected by allergies at some point in their life. Luckily there are specialists who can help. Like me, Dr Meilyn Hew.

I graduated from the University of Western Australia and went on to specialise in clinical and laboratory Allergy and Immunology. I also completed training in the Department of Clinical Immunology at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, working primarily in adult immunodeficiency.

After obtaining my specialist qualifications in 2012, I finished a fellowship with Clinical Immunology with PathWest and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in 2013, and was a Consultant Clinical Immunologist and Immunopathologist with the Department of Immunology at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and PathWest Laboratory Medicine until mid-2020.

I am presently co-head of immunopathology at Saturn Pathology, and am pleased to continue seeing patients at the Wexford Medical Centre and St John of God Hospital, Murdoch.

Dr Hew is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and of the Royal Australasian College of Pathologists and a member of the Australian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy, Australia’s peak body for allergists and immunologists.
